I have had a huge love for dogs since day one, constantly frustrating my poor parents by bringing home dogs who in my mind were strays. If they were unattended and didn't wear a collar they had to come home with me!!
This love of dogs is what drives me. I consider myself to be extremely privileged to have a career working with these remarkable animals. Very few people can say they enjoy going to work, but I can! Dogs make my job a joy, I truly am blessed.
I began working in the dog grooming industry in 1993 and haven't looked back, passing my City & Guilds with credit.
Having had so many rescue dogs over the years has helped me understand how to handle the more nervous client which is why I always keep a well stocked toy box and treat jar!
Making your dog look great is very important to me but making him/her feel great is what really melts my heart, there is no better experience than seeing a timid little soul or a dog that has had a bad grooming experience come out of his/her shell and want to interact with me.
It's all about that wagging tail!
I have always had a passion for all animals but dogs have been a huge part of my life.
Growing up I always had family dogs. when I was 13 I became the very proud owner of a scruffy little terrier called Cassie (better known as pig!). Although Cassie was supposed to be a westie she certainly didn't look like one!
Grooming Cassie and trying to keep her looking slightly tidy is where my love for dog grooming began.
When I left school I attended a animal college. Part of my course was to find a work placement for once a week, and Tina kindly gave me the opportunity to do this. From day one I loved dog grooming, whether it be cuddling a nervous dog or trying to bath a wriggly little puppy! After I completed my animal care NVQ Tina thankfully took me on on a full time basis.
I am now very proud to say I am fully qualified after completing my Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Animal Management.
I currently own two wonderful mutts, Dinky and Florrie. Dinky is a rescue from Romania, and like Cassie is equally as scruffy! She is the boss here at Tinas Tails and will probably greet you with a woof when you come to visit us.
After Cassie passed away I wanted to get a companion for Dinky. As I always rescued dogs I was ready for a new challenge, so I bought my very first puppy! Florrie is a whippet x and is now 3 years old. she loves nothing more than chasing rabbits and rolling in fox poo. Thank god I am a dog groomer!
